About Naväge

For the layperson, everything we know of ‘sinus rinses’ consists of demonstrations of people tilting their heads and letting water drip everywhere. If only there was some kind of product that could offer a cleaner, easier-to-use, convenient nasal irrigation experience…

Naväge produces effective cleaning systems that are designed to use suction as opposed to pressure. The brand also offers saltpod capsules, accessories, and replacement parts for anybody that wants to clear their sinuses in a better way.

The highly-esteemed product has been awarded the prestigious Small Business Partnership Award from SourceAmerica in 2017, and the Vocational Guidance Services’ Partner in Rehabilitation Award in 2015. It was also featured on the Dr. Oz Show in 2018.

This Naväge nasal care review will give you a complete company profile—including its policies, details on products, customer testimonials, and other useful information that could help you decide if it’s worth checking out.

Overview of Naväge

Martin Hoke is the inventor and CEO of Naväge. He’s also the president of RhinoSystems Inc., a corporation founded to develop and eventually manufacture and distribute Naväge products. Hoke was inspired to create his own nasal irrigation system after years of suffering from sinusitis.

By recommendation of a friend of his, he tried doing a salt-water rinse—which worked. Then, in 2007, Oprah and Dr. Oz discussed nasal irrigation and Neti Pots, which really got him thinking: There had to be a better way to do it.

The Navage nasal irrigation system was invented in the same year. Instead of the typical, messy method of pushing the rinse through the nose, this system pulls the rinse through the nose using powerful suction.

The Navage Nose Cleaner is manufactured in China under close supervision by RhinoSystems Inc., which is headquartered in Brooklyn, Ohio. The company ships to locations in the US and Canada, and sells its products in over 20,000 retail locations in both countries.

Below, this Naväge nasal care review has put together a complete pros and cons list to help you quickly distinguish between the highs and lows of the business.

Naväge Nasal Care Review

To get you started on your journey, this Naväge nasal care review will now go over some of the bundles and products that the brand sells on its website.

We’ll include useful information such as what the Naväge nasal cleaner is made of, how it works, prices for bundles as stated on the site, and more. Time to say goodbye to those sniffles once and for all!

Naväge Starter Bundle Review

The Starter Bundle comes with a nose cleaner, 20 Naväge salt pods, one pair of Standard Nose Pillows, and 2 pre-installed AA batteries. The nose cleaner uses powerful suction to safely flush out allergens, mucus, germs, viruses, and bacteria, making it the perfect companion to have around during flu or allergy season.

Additionally, it’s approved by both the USFDA and Health Canada for individuals 12 and older. Purchase it with a free Eucalyptus SaltPod Sampler for just under $100.

Naväge Essentials Bundle Review

If you are constantly looking for somewhere convenient to store your cleaner, the Essentials Bundle is for you. It comes with the Naväge machine, 20 SaltPods, Countertop Caddy, and two pre-installed batteries.

The Countertop Caddy includes space to keep the device itself, the Naväge pods, and little place-holders for the pillows. Your kit will stay organized, clean, and dry. Customers can find it on the site for $105.

Naväge Deluxe Bundle Review

This is the creme de la creme of the bundles, as it not only offers you somewhere to safely store your device when you’re at home, but it also gives you somewhere to stash it when you are on the go.

The Deluxe Bundle includes the Nose Cleaner, 20 SaltPod Capsules, Countertop Caddy, Travel Bag, and two preinstalled AA batteries. The travel bag comes in a bunch of different colours and patterns, including a minty shade, brown, black, teal, and leopard print. It costs $117 at checkout.

Naväge Nasal Dock Review

The Nasal Dock is an essential universal replacement part that is suitable and intended for all SDG-2 Naväge Nose Cleaner models.

It rotates 360-degrees to allow for easy bi-directional flow and it is made of the same durable, high-quality material as the upper and lower Nose Cleaner tanks. The Nasal Dock does not include pillows, so make sure that you purchase those separately.

You can opt for a replacement dock in one of two colours, translucent aquamarine or white, for $8.

Naväge Original SaltPod 30-Pack Review

The SaltPods, which feature a scientifically formulated concentrate of pharmaceutical-grade sea salt and purified water, come in either original or eucalyptus options.

The way that they are input into the cleaner is reminiscent of popping a pod into a Nespresso machine—eliminating any possible mess or inconvenience from mixing it yourself.

The best part about the SaltPods is that they have a laboratory-validated shelf-life of 4+ years! The 30-pack can be found on the site for $12, but if you sign up for Subscribe and Save, you can save 10% on your purchase.

Can I Use Tap Water in Naväge?

This Naväge nasal care review uncovered some vital information under the brand’s FAQs. Apparently, the US FDA advises using filtered, distilled, or previously boiled water. The CDC provides a guide on how to properly prepare your water for rinsing on their website.

According to them, the best option is to either boil your water for 1 minute, then let it cool to a safe luke-warm temperature, or buy water that specifies on its label that it is distilled or sterile.

If you cannot boil your water and buying distilled water is not an option, then the CDC recommends you use a water filter to remove some common germs. Labels that read ‘NSF 53’, ‘NSF 58’, “absolute pore size of 1 micron or smaller”, or contain the words ‘cyst removal’ or ‘cyst reduction’ are most effective at ridding your water of germs like Naegleriaa free living amoebae protist genus that can cause brain infection.

If you cannot boil, distill, or filter your water, the CDC says you should attempt to disinfect it with chlorine bleach. This can be tricky, so make sure you check out the CDC’s direct guideline for how much bleach to use!

Can You Breathe While Using Naväge?

It can be scary to flush your sinuses. It might leave some people feeling breathless, but you can breathe perfectly fine while using Naväge. To ensure optimal efficacy and safety, breathe normally through your mouth while you are using the system.

Additionally, you can try to press your tongue firmly against the roof of your mouth. This will help to close the soft palate, block the throat, and separate the nasal cavity from the oral cavity, which is what you want to do in order to breathe and rinse at the same time.

The company website suggests that you try to sing or say the word ‘hung’, holding the latter part of the word, ‘ng’, for as long as you are rinsing.

How Often Should You Use Naväge?

Because Naväge is completely safe and drug-free, the company and healthcare professionals alike agree that customers are free to use it whenever they want to or need to. The brand recommends that new customers use it twice a day, morning and night, but once they are used to it, they can adjust their use to whatever suits them.

Naväge encourages new users to try the product by putting forth the ‘Naväge Challenge’, which prompts them to use the system twice a day for two weeks in order to quickly see the benefits that come from using a nasal irrigation system.

Who is Naväge For?

The Naväge nasal care system can be used by almost everyone. It may not be as effective for those with perforated septums or 100% blocked sinus passages. This is because, in order to take full advantage of the benefits, the device must be used on a closed system.

Perforated septums create a hole that could be a challenging barrier to proper use, while blocked sinuses can be a dead-end for the rinse, again challenging its efficacy.

Otherwise, it is safe for adults and children with all kinds of conditions, including those that use CPAP machines, those with high blood pressure, deviated septums, snoring issues, post nasal drip, chronic rhinitis, chronic allergies, and chronic sinus infections.

Comparison: Naväge vs. NeilMed

Ketan C. Mehta, MD and Nina Mehta founded NeilMed Pharmaceuticals Inc. in January of 2000. Their products, including their flagships—the NeilMed Sinus Rinse and NeilMed NasaFlo Neti Pot—are manufactured at the headquarters of the corporation, located in Santa Rosa California, US.

NeilMed products are available to be shipped in several countries worldwide, and are available at many retailers in the US, Canada, and many other countries. So, you can see that this line of products is more wide-spread and accessible than the Naväge line.

As for how the prices and technologies used compare, the Naväge Cleaner uses a dock system with two nasal pillows and suction to rinse out the sinuses, while the NeilMed HydroPulse Multi-Speed Pulsating Nasal/Sinus Irrigation System uses pressure from a single wand-like mechanism that is inserted into one nostril.

The Naväge Starter Bundle, which features their Nose Cleaner and 20 SaltPod Capsules, is sold for just under $100, while the HydroPulse system plus 30 Sinus Rinse Premixed Packets is sold for $70. These two kits on each respective website are their most basic or ‘starter’ offerings.

Naväge Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

This Naväge nasal care review wouldn’t be complete without exploring some honest customer testimonials. We looked on the company site first, and were pleased to see that an overwhelming amount of people love the product.

Across the board, there were mostly 5/5 star reviews for the device and bundles. One satisfied user with a deviated septum says it helped him clean out his sinuses without difficulty:

I have a deviated septum and I am waiting for surgery. I have been using the Naväge in the meantime and it is the best sinus irrigation product on the market. I noticed a difference immediately. I highly recommend this product.”

Another happy customer received the Naväge Starter Bundle as a gift: “Navage was a gift from my son. I am so grateful to him and to your company product. I also received a free caddy and $10 off my 1st order. What a wonderful company and such a great successful product. I am a forever customer.”

On Amazon, the same bundle received a score of 4.6/5 stars out of 12,152 reviews. One buyer wrote, “I tried this product because the suction portion appealed to me. THIS IS AMAZING! Not only does it work fantastic, there is hardly nose blowing required after and absolutely no dripping for hours after use. Highly recommend!”

On the CVS website, 63 of 88 reviewers gave the system 5/5 stars. The most helpful good review states, “I love this! I don’t usually write reviews but I saw the 1 bad one on this and didn’t want some to not try it. I use mine twice a day, it does not go down my throat at all. The trick is not to jam the nose pieces up your nose. I swear I sleep better since I started using this. I wouldn’t be without it now. I haven’t had it long so I hope it lasts a long time.”

Is Naväge Worth It?

The Naväge nasal irrigation system offers unique technology that is not commonly seen with nasal rinses. The suction-based system promises you a clean that is thorough, comfortable, easy, and convenient.

Pressure-based rinses can be a bit harder to use, not to mention slightly more daunting for first-time users. Yet, another factor that improves the status of the Naväge line is the amount of positive reviews it has on multiple forums—including its own website, CVS, and Amazon.

Given that this technology is a safe and drug-free way of rinsing out your nasal passage, this Naväge nasal care review doesn’t see any harm in trying it out. The health benefits are plenty, and it appears to be highly-acclaimed, making the price less significant in the grand scheme of things. If you are in the US and Canada, why not take the Naväge Challenge?
