About Kane 11

Kane 11 Socks Review

Kane 11 socks is a made in the USA company that promises to fix the biggest problem with socks: that sock sizes don’t make any sense! Kane 11 makes socks with high quality, natural yarns made to the highest environmental standards. They only sell online through their own store but accept all majors form of payment.

This Kane 11 socks review will go over what makes the brand different from generic shoe stuffers you’re used to, and why you deserve a decent-fitting sock!

Overview of Kane 11

Kane 11 Socks Review

Ever wonder why shoes come in all these different sizes (1, 2, 3, etc.) but socks come in small, medium, and large? How many times have you bought socks that fit in the heel but are too tight in the toes? Kane 11 has socks in 11 sizes for men and 7 sizes for women, one sock size for each shoe size.

Their secret is in understanding all the different ways to measure a foot:

  1. Toe to Heel Length
  2. Toe Box
  3. Foot Circumference
  4. Heel Pocket
  5. Sock Height
  6. Leg Circumference
  7. Diameter

Kane 11 has assembled a crack team of engineers, textile experts, and factory partners to make the highest quality socks and keep prices affordable.

Pros

  • By sticking to shoe sizes, Kane 11 makes it easy to find a sock that fits your foot the way you’re expecting it to
  • High quality materials mean no more holes after only a week’s worth of wear and tear
  • A generous return policy means you can get exactly what you want

Cons

  • You can only buy them online through their online store; not very convenient if you’re a brick-and-mortar shopper
  • Color profile is pretty limited; you won’t see any wacky patterns or fun co lours, especially in the men’s collection
  • All socks have some kind of pattern or logo on them
  • These socks ain’t cheap: the least costly pair is $10.50

Men’s Kane 11 Socks Review

Kane 11 men’s socks come in sizes 7 to 11 and have a variety of different styles, from ankle socks all the way to over the calf, and even ski/snowboard styles made with Merino wool. The prices are dependent on how much wool was used in their construction so, naturally, the teeny little ankle socks will be a lot cheaper than the big Merino wool snowboard socks.

No-show Laylo socks will run you $10.50 a pair, formal dress socks $21.50 per pair, and the ski/snowboard socks are $25.50 per pair. The average price appears to be around the $19/$20 range. You can also buy packs of 4 or 8 in each style at a discount. A pack of 8 Harry ankle socks will run you $112.20, almost $20 cheaper than buying 8 pairs individually.

I like that the men’s socks come in simple, refined colors like black, grey, and navy blue. I’m not a fan of loud patterns and bright colors in my socks — they should complement an outfit, not distract from one. I especially like that the Merino wool socks have a subtle pattern running up the calf, with only a strip of darker color at the top. Very classy!

If you are looking for socks with a bit more pizazz, check out our review of Soxy Socks — they have all the crazy cool sock designs you’ll need, with the same great manufacturing standards as Kane.

Women’s Kane 11 Socks Review

Kane 11’s women’s socks have similar features to their men’s line, though they have quite a bit more variety in color and pattern options. Each sock type is priced based on how much wool was used in its construction, so your no-show Laylo socks are going to run you $10.50, while the larger Treeline are $25.50 a pair. Each Kane 11 sock is made from the same blend of materials: mostly Merino wool, with some nylon, a bit of spandex for stretchiness.

I like that the sportier socks in this line, like the Madison, have strategic mesh panels on the top for breathability and to keep your feet fresh throughout the day (Or, at least, as fresh as possible!) The Meadow, another sport sock, has reinforced heel and toe construction to keep up with you when you’re working out.

The women’s socks can also be ordered in solo pairs, or in packs of 4 and 8 at a discount. While the women’s socks do have more color variety than the men’s, they are still quite simple aesthetically. If you’re looking for bolder options, you should head over to our review of Soxy Socks.

Kane 11 Socks: Bestsellers

The best selling Kane 11 socks are the men’s Sebring dress socks, which sits around the mid calf and is made of Merino wool. The Sebring comes in tons of different solid colors, but my favorite is definitely the Loden which looks like an almost-grey forest green. The Sebring, like all Kane 11’s socks, is purchasable as a pair or in packs of 4 and 8.

For a less formal, sportier option, the Harry ankle sock is a popular choice. These have the ventilating mesh panels up top to help your feet breathe, and an extra layer of cushioning on the heel and toe for durability and comfort. I’m not wild about the pattern on the Harry but the whole point is that the sock is barely visible when worn with a shoe so this isn’t a deal breaker by any means.

Sock Sizes

Here’s the best thing about Kane 11: they reject the super weird standard that socks are sized based on arbitrary sizes like small, medium, large, etc. Instead, Kane 11 uses 7 different measurements to make socks that fit every part of your foot just right, all based on a number you already know–your shoe size.

They have 11 different sizes for men and 7 for women. They suggest that you size up one size if you wear a wide shoe, but otherwise it should be pretty easy to find a size that works for you. As they say on their website, they want to take the confusion out of buying socks!

Kane 11 Socks Review: What Do Customers Think?

Kane 11 Socks Review

Customer ratings for Kane 11 socks is overwhelmingly positive, with many customers expressing they didn’t realize there was anything wrong with the socks they were used to–until they tried Kane 11. Both men and women say they fit perfectly, and lots of reviews mention they can’t believe it took this long for someone to make socks that fit properly.

Some customers do report that the over the calf socks don’t stay up as well as they’d like and could sit higher on the calf. The deputy editor of The Strategist writes, “I never thought I needed socks in exactly my size, but I guess I do.” Many customer reviews do mention that Kane 11 socks are a bit pricier than the average, but then those same reviews almost always say how worth it the extra cost is.

Where to Buy Kane 11 Socks

Unfortunately, one of the downsides of Kane 11 socks is that they can only be purchased directly from their website, kane11.com. This is an advantage if you’re already sold on the brand, but it makes taking a risk on an unknown product a bit of a, well, risk. While they will ship anywhere in the US and its territories, they do not accept international orders.

Shipping Policy

Kane 11 only ships within the United States and territories. Orders are shipped within 24-48 hours, except on holidays. They will ship to PO Boxes but only if the USPS is able to deliver to the final destination. That means that only the standard shipping option can be selected if shipping to a PO Box, not the expedited or express options.

Orders placed before 11am will ship that day. Domestic shipping can take up to 7 days depending on the destination, though this is likely much less in major urban centers. They provide order tracking on their website under My Order and they will also email you a tracking number.

Here’s a breakdown of their shipping options:

Shipping NameDelivery timeCourierCost

Return Policy

Kane 11’s return policy is quite generous. Items purchased within 90 days, and not marked “final sale” or considered to be promotional items, are eligible for a full refund, with shipping paid by Kane 11.

Kane 11 has an interesting return policy specifically for their Laylo “no show” socks. According to their website, the Laylo sock is guaranteed not to stay up and not slip down the foot while being worn. If you find that your Laylo sock is falling when you wear them, you can send a clear video to Kane 11 showing you putting the socks on, putting on a shoe that matches the size of the sock, walking around for a bit, and then removing the shoe and showing that the sock has fallen.

If the video is accepted by Kane 11, they will send you “double your money back”: a refund for the purchase price of the sock, as well as a check for the additional refund. This is a pretty sweet guarantee for a problem that could be very annoying!

Contact Kane 11 Socks

You can email Kane 11 directly at info@kane11.com or fill out a form on their website with your name, email, phone number, and a message. They also have a live chat option, accessible by a little chat bubble button, on their website that is available Monday to Friday, 11am to 3pm MST.

I was a bit surprised that the ad states the men sizes: 7 thru 11. My shoe size is 12.5. I would have thought the men’s sizes would run a few sizes larger.

Answered by Kane 11 Socks (5 years ago) Reply

FYI- Kane 11 offers sizes 7 through 17 for men…and 6 through 12 for women.

Answered by Pdholcomb (4 years ago) Reply

I ordered cotton socks and the stretch material is excessive. I wanted all cotton

Answered by Cweaver (4 years ago) Reply

These socks do not launder well. Ordered size 11 for my husband. He loved them until I laundered them and they shrunk to a child’s size. Waste of money

Asked by Anthony W Rodenbeck (5 years ago) Reply

The size selection for men seem a bit small.

Asked by Anthony W Rodenbeck (5 years ago) Reply

Your review states that men’s sizes are from 7 to 11. I checked Kane’s web site and found a much larger selection of sizes. I submitted a comment about the sock sizes. My comment was based on your review alone. After checking Kane’s site, I was too quick in forming my opinion. This is a good example of what can happen when not doing a more thorough investigation/research on a product. I therefore change and withdrawal my earlier comment on Kane 11’s sock sizes.

Asked by Shirley (5 years ago) Reply

I was thrilled to find socks that came in my size, and awaited my first order with anticipation. I was a bit bewildered when the package arrived, and the no-show socks appeared to be smaller than the one-size-fits-all type that I had trouble with. When I tried them on, I was very disappointed. The socks were tight and uncomfortable. I wear a size 10 shoe (ladies) but my feet are a C-D width, so I ordered a size up as instructed. My feet are not fat, just wide, not extra wide, just wide. I also tried the Lotus sock, and although it was stretchier in the foot, it was still uncomfortably short, felt like it would slip off if I walked in shoes for any distance. I have a couple of pairs of Feetures socks, in size Large, and they fit much better. (I just popped away to research Feetures, and found that they come in more colors/styles, and at a comparable price.)

The Kendall crew socks were fine, and fit nicely.

Answered by diana (4 years ago) Reply

I’m glad someone said this! I ordered two pair of women’s Lotus socks. They stretch sideways nicely but are they ever short! If I re-order I will get a size larger for sure. Or get men’s.

Asked by Will (5 years ago) Reply

My too-big, too bunchy socks have been bothering my feet for far too long. I honestly didn’t think there was anything I could do to resolve the issue. Fortunately, I saw a facebook ad for Kane 11 and decided to purchase a couple of pairs. They fit awesome, they are comfortable, I don’t have to deal with toe bunching and they fit my heel. Thank you Kane 11 Socks.

Asked by Diego Sanchez (5 years ago) Reply

Super thrilled with Kane 11. I purchased the Big Sur cotton socks and the Merino Wool Hobie’s. They actually fit my foot size, extremely  comfortable. Also, I wanted to thank the customer service team for making this all so easy.

Asked by Jake Goldberg (5 years ago) Reply

These socks fit like a glove for your feet. They are so incredibly comfortable. The variety of colors, materials, and styles make these socks wearable for any occasion. Whether you’re exercising, at the office or simply hanging around the house, Kane11 has you covered.

Asked by Rick Joseph (5 years ago) Reply

Worst company I have ever dealt with. Hope you have an infant at home, as their size 11 socks will barely fit the baby. Had to return this cheap merchandise, they let you print the label and charge you $3.25 to return.
BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY, terrible customer service, will not talk to you email only. Had to go through PayPal to get my refund. Go to Bombas and see REAL customer service.

Answered by Bruce Durst (4 years ago) Reply

I agree 100%. Not only about the FEE to return your order. Worse yet, the socks are so small I couldn’t believe it. I wear a size 12 shoe. My socks said 12 on the bottom. they were more like a woman’s or Childs small. I had a hard time getting them over my heal. they were Quarter socks but looked like no show socks. also very thin. too thin for me. not worth the $.

Answered by Matt (4 years ago) Reply

I haven’t dealt with Kane11 yet, so I can’t speak to that. But Bombas having REAL customer service? That is a joke right? They are absolutely terrible. From product to to customer service. They’re the biggest scam out there. “Oh, we donate a pair of socks for every one you buy.” How nice….You overcharge $15 for a pair of socks and donate a pair (only if you do not return your horrificly tight and uncomfortable pair within a certain amount of time) and THEY get the tax deduction while you THINK you’re doing some good by overpaying for them Marketing psych 101. If they cared, they’d make the donation in YOUR name and you get the deduction. Sorry…everything about my experice with Bombas aggravates me and fires me up. They were awful. That said, I think I’ll shy away from Kane11 as well. I like my Perry Ellis socks from Burlington when on sale. They’re soft, comfortable, no bunching, so seam feeling, and stay where they should.

Answered by George Kauffman (4 years ago) Reply

Size 11 barely fit a baby? I suspect you are exaggerating! My size 8s fit my size 8 feet perfectly. I ordered quarter sox and crew length, liked the quarter sox better since I am a diabetic. Ordered more quarter sox and returned the crew. no problems. Didn’t mind the $3.25 for shipping.
These sox are CONSTRUCTED, not knitted in one piece. A sock that fits perfectly may take some getting used to, but with or without shoes, these socks do not move all day, like a second skin. Hope you weren’t just a troll

Answered by Gene (4 years ago) Reply

Hey Rick, I couldn’t agree more with your assessment!! My size 12 would have fit my wife. Her foot is size 3-1/2. I was expecting a more robust fabric, also. The Return Label fee for my order was $3.67. I can not find anywhere in their information that mentions this fee. This is truly where FREE is not free.

Answered by Gene (4 years ago) Reply

Hey George Kauffman, I can tell you that Rick is not exaggerating much. My Size 12 would have fit your Size 8 foot perfectly. I have a photo (Can’t upload it) with the Kane 11, Size 12, next to my Gold Toe (10-13) and the Gold Toe is about a size and a half longer after two years of washing. I can tell you that I am not at all satisfied.

I agree, and experienced a bad product a no customer service. I prefer and received a torn sock. No reply from company. Quality control is nonexistent and Kane 11 customer service has no problem shunning you the customer.

Asked by vivian jasinski (5 years ago) Reply

I was disappointed that the socks are stretch socks. I thought they were going to be more true to size. They’re still not as large as they should be for the bigger men’s sizes

Answered by Ronald Rosser (5 years ago) Reply

What were you thinking to charge so much for a pair os socks

Answered by Kim Kurtz (4 years ago) Reply

Waaaay to go Ronald. You are so right! Why would anyone make socks sooooo expensive. And they do not have any socks that are 100% cotton.

Answered by Wotan (4 years ago) Reply

You are right – I am guessing that most of the socks are the same size with different sizes printed on them. With socks one size too big (by the numbers) the socks come out the (correct temperature) wash in kids sizes than have to be stretched like ladies stockings to fit – – – – terrible.

Asked by John P. (4 years ago) Reply

I purchased a pack of Whitewash model Kane 11 socks in size 10 (I wear a 9 1/2 shoe). I wore them for a while before noticing that they were too small. WAY too small. I called and was told that they would exchange them but were out of my preferred color (grey). I wear white, black, and grey socks. Not purple. Which is what I was offered. They would not extend the replacement period to when they would be back in stock. The model has since been discontinued. My advice is to try a pair and if it doesn’t fit to get in touch with them quickly for replacements. And finally, they did not publish my factual and not at all nasty review that I posted to their website. Hmmmm…

Worst company I have ever dealt with. They got the order wrong. Spoke with a supervisor named Mickey who told me I was under the wrong impression of what I bought. This guy is a total loser and detriment to this company. They did not give me the 20% discount for my first and last purchase. Will never do business with this company again

Asked by Paulette S. (4 years ago) Reply

I wear a size 9 shoe and ordered two different styles in size 10 just to be safe as “one size fits all” socks are often a little small for me. These socks were definitely too small. I returned them and gave them an honest (bad) review. They have not published my review and only show rave reviews on their site.

Answered by diana (4 years ago) Reply

They now have ONE four-star, to go with all the five-stars. I just wrote a three; we’ll see if they publish it. These socks are SMALL! (Lotus for women.)

Kane 11 socks for men are simply too small. I ordered socks four sizes too large…hoping for the best. All I got was childlike socks that were way too tight. I may as well have applied several rubberbands around my ankles & toes. This company has no chance for success. I’m probably going to throw my socks in the garbage because I’ve had little success in stretching them.

Asked by Terry Crow (4 years ago) Reply

Kane 11 has a great idea but if their always out of stock what good are they. I chose 6 different styles all out of stock.

I guess they know how to sell socks but not how to make them…:(

Asked by Wayne Beresford (4 years ago) Reply

Your socks are not true to size. I lost $8.00 to return the socks to you. I followed your instructions. I’m 15 4 E I ordered 16., could NOT get it on my foot. It cost me $8.00 to find out you lie. Give me back what is left of my money for I will never order from you again and I will not recommend you. I will tell everyone your socks are not true to size and to save their money.

Asked by Linda Paride (4 years ago) Reply

I bought four pairs of the women’s ankle Kane 11 socks in merino wool after viewing the commercial on t.v. I ordered a half size up to guarantee a good fit. I was very disappointed when the socks arrived. The socks run small, have NO cushioning, and do not absorb sweat very well. The colors are dull and unattractive. I wore one pair for a few hours and didn’t even try the other three pairs. I will donate these to the Goodwill and throw the one pair away, not even good for slippers around the house. They are very poor quality, a waste of $60. From now on, will only buy BALEGA, which I have worn for 10 years. They wear for years, provide great cushioning and are worth the $15 each per pair. Kane 11 socks are a waste of money.

Asked by Vincent Consiglio (4 years ago) Reply

I am a diabetic with toe amputees on one foot. It is hard for me with a pair of socks because they are the same length. Do you have any ideas with your brand?

Asked by Kim (4 years ago) Reply

I wear ladies shoe size 12 and ordered size 12 socks. I anxiously awaited the two pair I ordered. They took weeks to arrive and actually only pair was shipped. I was disappointed at first sight because they looked no bigger than the standard 9-11 socks I could purchase at any store for a lot less. Sure enough the socks were tight and uncomfortable like all women’s socks on me. A rip off and too much trouble to return.

Asked by Victor (4 years ago) Reply

These are the lowest quality for the money socks ever! They obviously budgeted for the marketing and for Boomer (shame on you dude) and not for the sock. These are the type of sock you would find in the back outlet of outlet of very cheap sock. I am being very serious. These are very cheap cheap cheap poor think socks

Disappointed in Kane 11 socks. Didn’t wear nearly as well as Darn Tough brand socks. Hole in bottom of heal in short period of time and doesn’t appear they have a good wear warranty as other higher end socks have.

I too am very disappointed in Kane 11 socks. Just giving these expensive socks a try, I order discounted only. That’s about the only good thing I can associate with these socks I bought 16 pairs for $113.40. On arrival, I LOL at these thin tight socks. They felt like diabetic socks and after washing them, I got another LOL. They shrunk and looked like children’s socks. My shoe size is 11 1/2 wide and I order size 12 as suggested. Maybe I should have order the largest size just to see the outcome of the things. Now I am going to give these things to my wife and her size is 7, hopefully she came wear these things……….

Asked by Ron Allen (4 years ago) Reply

I purchased a 4 pack of this companies socks. Not only are they over priced but I’ve never worn such thin socks and totally uncomfortable. What a complete rip-off. I worn 1 pair, 1 time and the other 3 are still in the shipping package.

If you are expecting high quality, comfortable socks DO NOT buy these. You have been warned.

Asked by Candy Freiheit (4 years ago) Reply

Poor quality socks. My husband wore a couple of pair of them about 10 times and the material balls up and one already had a hole in it. Costly and definitely not worth the money. I wrote to the company and never heard a word from them about our disappointment in their product.

Asked by Don't waste your money (4 years ago) Reply

The ankle height socks I ordered are really no-shows. I agree with others who say the socks are cut much lower than expected, are much smaller than labeled, and are super thin. Save your time and money. I can buy a lot of socks from Costco for the money I wasted on this Kane 11 junk.

Asked by WMR (4 years ago) Reply

Kane 11 socks are a good idea but they are inferior to quality Marino wool socks. They don’t launder well and they don’t last nearly as long. I have bought about a dozen pairs over the last 2 years. Down to just a few that have not shrunk or worn out. Very disappointing.

Yup, thin and much smaller (tighter) than any reasonable expectation. And silly expensive. Clearly a lot of us had hoped for something better and were willing to pay for it. Probably fair to say there won’t be a lot of repeat customers.

I ordered 8 pairs of socks in a womens size 12, I normally wear a size 11. They were extremely small and uncomfortable. I sent them back, got an email saying they received my return. It’s been 10 days and still no refund! That’s terrible customer service, I wouldn’t recommend buying from this company ever! No only do the socks run small, the return process is a joke! Other companies give refunds immediately. Don’t buy from this company, save your money!

Disgusted with them

I placed an order on March 30th for socks for myself and for my wife, who has long, narrow feet and has problems finding woman’s socks that fit. The acknowledged my order of in stock socks, advising they would notify me when they shipped. By their standards, that should have been the next day. My credit card was charged immediately.

On April 5th (3 days ago), I emailed them to ask for a status update. I have not heard from them. There is supposed to be a chat button on the contact page, but it doesn’t exist. I have tried two different browsers on my laptop, and a third on my phone. There is no phone number to call.

At this point the only recourse I appear to have is to dispute the charge with my credit card company.

Update on Their Awful Service
Asked by Steve Boime (3 years ago) Reply

After I posed my review last week and sent another email, I suddenly got a response. They apologized, said my order would ship within 2 business days, and gave me a partial credit. They didn’t address their fictional chat feature. After 4 more business days without shipment I emailed them and told them to cancel my order and refund the remaining amount. Two days later and they haven’t responded to that.

I’ll never know if their socks are really good, or if the numerous bad reviews of them are reflective of their overall quality, but I do know they are one of the two worst companies I’ve ever done business with in terms of customer service.

I have been looking for socks that aren’t tight on my foot for a while. I decided to give Kane11 a try, I will NEVER do that again. I placed my order on March 22, 2021. On April 2 I emailed the company to ask when my order would ship, the response was it would ship in 2 business days with expedited shipping. I waited 4 business days, no email regarding shipment. I sent 2 more emails over the next 2 weeks with no response. Finally I contacted my credit card company regarding a dispute of charges. Amazingly 2 days later (April 23) my order was going to ship. I finally received my order on April 30. Not what I call expedited shipping. My packing slip reads that the order ship date was 4/8/21. As for the socks I bought a sock called Brook, they do fit, the others were called Laylo, I ordered an 8 they may fit a shoe size 5, plus the stitching at the top of the sock pulled out when I tried to put them on. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME with this company.

Pros and Cons
Asked by Catherine (3 years ago) Reply

I’ve had the Kane socks for over a year so feel that my review is objective. I ordered their 4 pack women’s crew socks and received 3 pair. Kane did send me the missing pair right away. So I ordered several anklet socks (and these are all priced fairly high).

Pros – The sizes are a perfect fit and they are well-made. They offer a variety of styles and ship out right away.

Cons – Not enough color variety. The socks shrink. I also don’t like having “Kane 11” stenciled on every pair of socks. Free advertising. If you want me to advertise your product, you can pay me to do so. But the biggest problem for me with their socks is that they are too tight on the ankle. I have to fold the tops down on the crew sock to wear them. I can’t wear the anklets at all!! And I don’t have big ankles, I’d say they are just average. That’s the main reason I wouldn’t buy from them again.

I was just at their site and could find no place to leave a review.

[May 20, 2021] I have left two messages on the website contact page with no response. They took the money for the socks on the day they were ordered. Is anyone else have delivery issues? I’ve ordered before without issue. Socks are great, but communication after ordering is awful!

Socks shrink never answer emails
Asked by Karen H Stoernell (3 years ago) Reply

Ordered socks in 1st week April. After many emails in May I got size 8. Ordered size 10, 11 better as they shrink. Trying to return no answer because they say they mailed in April so my # and zip code don’t match. I’ve emailed 11 times so I can return and get my $ back!

Do you get answers to emails. Do your socks shrink?

Yes and they wear excessively.

One of the worst experiences I have had with any online company. I ordered the socks, waited several days for the expected delivery date but nothing appeared. I contacted the company asking for the delivery date assuming I must have gotten it wrong and never received a response. I cancelled the order, contacted my credit card company and filed a dispute. Then I received an email saying the socks were being shipped. I received them, tried them on and they were the worst crap socks I have ever seen!! I Immediately returned them at my expense and just received a note from my credit card company, Citi Costco, that they have refused my dispute. DO NOT BUY THESE SOCKS. You will regret it.

After 8 Months Don't Buy These Socks

I bought 6 pair of Men’s Brown socks and 6 pair of Black socks. After 8 months all of them are wearing at the heels and on the outside up by the toes. You can see right through them.
Don’t waste your money, they are a rip off.
