Overview of Horizon Fitness Treadmill

Horizon Fitness Review

Horizon Fitness was established all the way back in 1975 in Taichung, Taiwan. The company name wasn’t formally created yet, and it wasn’t truly affiliated with fitness at the time. It was under the name of Johnson Metals, and was founded by Mr. Peter Lo. Specializing in reselling scrap metal, he was in contact with a very important client, Ivanko Barbells, who he would offer his manufacturing services to.

While it is not known how Johnson Metals shifted gears and turned into a renowned fitness company, we do know they rebranded in 1998. Headquartered in Taiwan, Horizon Fitness is under its parent company, Johnson Health Tech. The company states that their equipment is made out of high-quality materials, and are expertely maintained by their staff of skilled workers.

Today, Horizon Fitness continues to grow as a business, as it has been featured in many news publications, as well as winning several awards. Some include the IPSO Award for their bikes in 2017, Best Buy by the Fitness Professor for their ellipticals in 2016, and the Plus X Award for their treadmills in 2016.

For their treadmills, customers noted that the machine works well with their provided exercise apps, which resulted in an efficient workout. People also loved the customizable features of their machines such as monitoring speed and incline, which helped them reach their exercise goals.

“What I love about this treadmill is that you can quickly turn two dials to adjust the speed and incline. This Horizon treadmill review hasn’t come across many outsider customer reviews. On Treadmill reviews, the brand is rated with 9.2/10. On Trustpilot, Horizon Fitness has 2/5 stars, although this is from only 30 reviews. Most buyers described the prices as affordable, and the machines were easy to set up.

In terms of Horizon customer service reviews, there were red flags in regards to poor customer service, delayed delivery times, and broken machine parts on Trustpilot.

“I opened the box and multiple parts were cracked. I was able to assemble it, but I emailed them about the parts. The damage must have been done to a huge drop during shipment. I reached out numerous times via telephone, emails and online chat…to NO AVAIL,” one Trustpilot reviewer wrote.

I ordered a treadmill online 2/8/21. The treadmill supposedly arrived in Fife, WA the next day! Red flag number 1. When EFW (the shipping company) didn’t deliver on the 25th as scheduled, I tried calling, emailing, texting & online chat. No response. Red flag number 2. I then looked online for customer reviews: I should have done this sooner. They were terrible and I began to suspect I was being scammed, so I canceled the order & requested an immediate refund. They emailed me that it would take 6-8 weeks. I said that since I never took delivery, their refund policy didn’t apply & if they could “ship” it & charge me in one day they could refund me in one day. They are refusing. I suspect, as one other customer I read about did, that they are shipping returned treadmills that need repair & EFW is being paid by them to scam customers until they receive a treadmill to deliver. One customer waited 2 months. This is a very unethical company.

We are currently going through the same issue now. Can’t get a response and our treadmill was shipped to Fife, WA next day also. Its been 8 business days and nothing. Not sure what to do. We saved up and bought a nice treadmill for over $1000.00.
Please help!

Do not buy from this company!
Asked by Kelly Bishop (3 years ago) Reply

I purchased a brand new T101 treadmill in November and it stopped working in February. Customer service is basically non-existent. After 5 emails, multiple phone calls and chats, they said the console part I needed was on backorder. It will be the end of April if we even get the part. Horrible, unprofessional. Already filed with the BBB.

DONT BUY
Asked by James Petrillo (3 years ago) Reply

worst and i mean worst customer service I have ever seen for any company. No follow up, and it’s impossible to get a hold of anyone. Excuses you get on the phone is lack of staff. well, don’t sell the treadmill in the first place if you can’t handle the service which is the most important

Horizon treadmill is fine; customer service is ... lacking
Asked by Sarah (3 years ago) Reply

I purchased a treadmill directly from Horizon in January 2021. The treadmill is fine: easy to assemble, runs well, etc. The customer service has been really pretty dreadful. The company forgot to charge me sales tax for my online order – so now, nearly six months later, they’ve emailed me demanding payment with no apology for their error (found due to an internal audit). When I suggested that this was problematic because they’d made the error and then failed to notice, and that it might be appropriate customer service to at a minimum admit their mistake and offer an apology before demanding money from me, I was met with a “we all need to do our part, your part is paying this bill” email response from them. Really, they should pay the sales tax they failed to collect – it’s what a grown-up would do.
