About Hexclad

HexClad is an American non-stick cookware company, making products for both professional and at-home novice chefs. If you’re tired of replacing your pots and pans every year because they’ve gotten all scratched up, these sets might just put an end to that cycle.

HexClad cookware has been praised by several major news outlets such as Forbes, CNN, People Magazine, NBC News, Buzzfeed, and more. They were even featured in Oprah’s Favourite Things, Good Housekeeping, and Yahoo. With 78K followers on their Instagram page, it’s safe to say that this is a household brand.

It’s easy enough to trust the legendary Oprah, but there’s nothing wrong with a second opinion. Our Hexclad Cookware Review will provide details on the company, their products, deals, and more, to help you decide if their collection is right for you.

Overview of Hexclad

Co-founders Danny Winer and Cole Mecray brought the HexClad technology to the US market, and began launching and selling cookware in 2017. They aimed to make durable pots and pans that last a lifetime.

Danny Winer, their current president and CEO, believes that HexClad’s cookware stands out from the competition because of certain unique elements. The hexagon design, for example, features a network of peaks and valleys.

The peaks are made of stainless steel, while the valleys are made of the non-stick material—making the cookware perfect for different purposes. Many traditional non-stick pans can’t handle metal utensils scraping against it.

The company’s products are designed at their headquarters in Los Angeles and manufactured in Asia. This Hexclad Cookware Review will now warm things up with some pros and cons of the brand.

How long does HexClad last?

HexClad’s CEO himself estimates that the cookware can last up to between 20 and 30 years. This is a relatively new company as well—they only started selling pans in 2017. So, it’s hard to accurately gauge how long the products will function as intended.

The cookware’s longevity is also based on how well they’re cared for. In general, non-stick surfaces don’t fare well if they are scrubbed repeatedly with abrasive sponges, or if they’re put in a dishwasher.

Thankfully, HexClad is dishwasher safe. The brand recommends the following care instructions before first use:

  1. Wash your pan with warm, soapy water right out of the package
  2. Season the HexClad pan by putting it on low-heat and rubbing in some oil with a paper towel. Let it heat up for 1–2 minutes
  3. If you’re ready to start cooking, go right ahead and throw in your food. If not, let it cool before washing it again

What is the coating on HexClad?

The HexClad pans have a “laser-etched, hexagon design”. The stainless steel surface features a Japanese ceramic, non-stick coating. This protective layer also contains diamond dust for extra durability, even heat distribution, and good sears on food.

Is HexClad PFOA-free?

For those who are new to the terminology, PFOA stands for perfluorooctanoic acid—a chemical commonly used in the creation of non-stick cookware. It’s also found in stain-resistant carpets, water-repelling clothes, and more. Products containing PFOA can last long in the environment.

It’s proven that this chemical can cause diseases and certain cancers, such as kidney cancer and thyroid disease. This can occur when people are exposed to high volumes of it. Luckily, HexClad is PFOA-free
