About Gravity Blankets
Gravity Blankets is a sleep and relaxation company offering a range of weighed blankets, pillows, and wellness products. While there are many similar products currently on the market, Gravity Blankets were listed as one of TIME Magazine’s Best Inventions in 2018. This Gravity Blankets review will cover key elements of the brand to help you make an informed purchase decision.
Overview of Gravity Blankets
Gravity Blankets co-founder and CEO Mike Grillo founded the company in 2017. Based in Brooklyn, New York, Gravity’s central objective is for customers to enjoy a good night’s sleep, wake up refreshed, recharged and ready to face the day. Using the scientific method known as deep touch pressure stimulation, Gravity Blankets encourages users to enjoy a deep and uninterrupted night’s sleep.
How Do Gravity Blankets Work?
Through the power of weight, Gravity Blankets relax the nervous system, allowing users to relax and achieve the best possible sleep. Gravity CEO Mike Grillo compares the feeling of using a Gravity Blanket to being “gently hugged to sleep”.
Each blanket comes with an inner weighted piece containing fine-grade glass beads. When the blanket is in use, these beads are uniformly distributed over the individual. Using the scientific method known as deep touch pressure stimulation, the Gravity Blanket targets key pressure points on the body, resulting in a deeper and uninterrupted night’s sleep.
Each blanket is customized for the user. They work best when they are weighted to 10% of the user’s body weight – unless you prefer a heavy or lighter blanket for specific reasons. In-between-sized customers are encouraged to choose products on the lower side. For safety reasons, Gravity Blankets are not recommended to be used on anyone weighing less than 50lb.
What Are Gravity Blankets Made Of?
Gravity Blankets contain fine-grade glass beads to establish deep pressure stimulation. This material is environmentally friendly, and Gravity switched over from using plastic polypellets for this reason. The Calm X Blanket is the only one that still contains plastic polypellets, which will be replaced with glass beads in the future.
