About Funko Pop

Funko Pop Review

Have you ever seen some of your favorite movie or video game characters with a giant head and a tiny little body? If you have, then it was most likely a figure made by Funko Pop. The company lives and breathes collaborations with some of the most popular pop culture icons from movies, TV shows, video games, and books you love.

The company almost has a figure for every single superhero or villain you could possibly name!

Our Funko Pop review will take a look at the wildly famous toymaker that specializes in these big-headed icons of pop culture from such world-famous franchises as Harry Potter, Star Wars, DC, Marvel, and just about every anime on Netflix.

With so many amazing pillars of pop culture under their reach, it’s no surprise they have over 1M likes on Facebook and 2.6M followers on Instagram. Calling them popular kind of falls short in describing how big this toy company has become. Their popularity is unmatched as they’ve even been featured in Forbes, The New York Times, and Business Insider.

In this Funko Pop review, we’ll take a look at some of the items from the most popular fandoms out there and discuss what features the figures come with and what previous customers of Funko Pop are saying. Finally, we tell you whether or not the brand lives up to the hype and if these products are worth it.

Overview of Funko Pop

Funko Pop Review

Funko Pop traces its roots back to 1998, where the company started selling Wacky Wobblers to advertise the restaurant chain Big Boy in the US. These big-headed toys were the brainchild of Mike Becker, who’s considered the founder of Funko Pop but when he teamed up with Freddy Funko, the brand really took off from there.

With its HQ located in Everett, WA, the brand partners with other companies to produce collectible vinyl toys for both kids and adults. Funko Pop figures are made overseas in places such as China and Vietnam.

Before we jump further into our Funko Pop review, let’s evaluate some of the advantages of this extremely popular brand of vinyl-made toys:

Highlights

  • Wide range of fandoms
  • Affordable
  • Customizable toys
  • Highly detailed figurines
  • Collectible and exclusive products
  • Free shipping over $50 (continental US only)
Funko Pop Review

Considering these well-made toy figures, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. Let’s explore the different options from each fandom in our Funko Pop review and see if you want to add any of them to your collection.

Custom Funko Pop Review

Before we look at some of your favorite pop culture figurines in our Funko Pop review, did you know you can make your very own Funko Pop figure? This awesome feature is not well-known, but think how amazed your loved one will be when you gift them with their own figurine.

The Custom Funko Pop customizer is basically the character creation screen, which allows you to pick numerous features in each of the following categories:

  • Body type: 6 different sizes from skinny to thick (with 12 skin tones)
  • Face: 38 different facial features like beards, brows, blush, eyes, and more
  • Hair: 43 hairstyles from man-bun to balding, and curly to straight (with 12 hair colors)
  • Outfits: 81 different coordinations from power armor to board shorts
  • Accessories: 31 extra choices to choose from, such as gloves, an eyepatch, cape, devil horns, wings
  • Background: 22 different packaging options with multiple color choices

Once you decide on all the options for your mini-me, you can then place a custom order for this one-of-a-kind creation. This unique figure would also be the ultimate gift for that toy lover in your life. Or become an absolute all-star for your son or daughter when they unveil their own superhero or fantasy self!

The Custom Funko Pop costs $25.

Funko Pop Anime Review

The company also sells a ton of different Funko Pop anime figures with their signature big heads and big eyes. Some of the animes the company works with are:

  • DragonBall Z
  • Naruto
  • Hero Academia
  • Avatar: The Last Bender
  • Demon Slayer

As there are so many collaborations, we could only focus on one of the best-selling figures in this Funko Pop Review.

Funko Pop Tanjiro Kamado Demon Slayer Review

Protect your space from any random demons with the Funko Pop Tanjiro Kamado Demon Slayer figure. This figurine really captures the rage and passion with Tanjiro’s angry facial expression and slicked-back hair.

We love the details on this figure: the tiny sandals, the flowing green and black checkered robe, and the tiny sword. Tanjiro stands with a sword unsheathed and ready to strike at any demons that may appear. The vinyl figure is about 4.25” tall.

For the uninitiated, Demon Slayer stars Tanjiro, who is on a quest to avenge his family members and find a cure for his sister who’s been turned into a demon. This rather dark anime challenges your expectations at every turn!

The Tanjiro Kamado Demon Slayer anime figure costs $12 with the option for a $4 gift box or a protective clear plastic case for your figure to stand inside of for $8.

Star Wars Funko Pop Review

The Star Wars Funko Pop collection is quite extensive, and instead of covering them all, we’ve selected one of the best sellers from the Funko site. They offer a lot of characters from the most recent Star Wars movies, but we’ve gone with a classic furry friend that everyone recognizes and loves in our Funko Pop review.

Funko Pop Chewbacca With Porg Star Wars Review

This Funko Pop Chewbacca With Porg Star Wars vinyl figure is an excellent representation of the character. The brown fur is perfectly shaded and textured, making it stand out wherever you decide to display it.

With this Chewbacca, you also get a tiny-sized Porg baby. This small animal was first seen in Star Wars: The Last Jedi which premiered in 2017. While this is probably not your favorite Star Wars movie, you can’t deny how awesome this Funko Pop figure is!

The Porg looks like a tiny penguin with its round black eyes, white body fur, black arm fur, and a patch of brown fur topping its crown. It is adorable from head to toe, and even sweeter because it fits in the palm of Chewbacca’s hand.

Chewbacca is about 5” tall and clad in brown fur with his signature bandoleer across his chest, the only thing missing is his Bowcaster blaster which is sadly not a part of this particular Funko figure.

Display this Chewbacca for $12 with the option for a $4 gift box or get a protective clear plastic case for your figure for $8.

Marvel Funko Pop Review

Though Star Wars is a much older franchise, Marvel is just as popular. Marvel Funko Pop fans absolutely love these comic book characters now brought to life in superhero movies. Funko makes a ton of Marvel heroes for you to choose from, so we have featured one of the best-selling Marvel characters, currently available on the Funko site.

Funko Pop Groot Guardians Of The Galaxy Review

The Guardians of the Galaxy has a long list of cast members and heroes under its flavorful sci-fi banner. However, one character is hands down the most unique — and it’s not even human! The Funko Pop Groot Guardians of the Galaxy is the character we will look at in this section of our Funko Pop review.

This figure of Groot is the sapling version of the loveable character growing out of a tiny pot. Starting off at the top of the figure, we have his charming plant buds that act as the figure’s hair. Moving down, the wood face with big eyes has an infectious smile, and whenever you catch sight of Groot, it will definitely bring some joy to your day.

This version of the creature is from The Guardians of the Galaxy 2 movie, and let’s just say that dancing baby Groot really stole the show. This happy-go-lucky Funko Pop figure is intended to be used as an ornament for a tree branch and is 3” tall.

Unlike the other figures featured so far in this Funko Pop review, this one is made of resin and not from vinyl. Pick up this tiny Groot for $10 or you can buy a keychain version for an additional $5

Harry Potter Funko Pop Review

When the Harry Potter books and movies captured everyone’s hearts, it wasn’t long before the brand would create Harry Potter Funko Pop figurines.

Again, as there are so many Harry Potter characters to choose from, we’ve gone ahead and picked out our favorite of the best sellers in this category of Funko products.

Funko Pop Quidditch Harry Harry Potter Review

The legendary boy with the lightning bolt scar, the Funko Pop Quidditch Harry Harry Potter features the main character playing the famous broom riding sport the franchise is known for. This vinyl figure comes with a lot of details that really make this an excellent choice for any Potter fan.

Naturally, Harry comes with his signature spectacles and the bolt-shaped scar on his forehead. He also carries two very recognizable objects — the Nimbus 2000 Broom and a golden snitch with its wings open in mid-flight. Finally, Harry is wearing the red robes of the Gryffindor Quidditch team with the house’s coat of arms on his breast.

Like we said, the detail on this figure is stellar and deserves to sit somewhere in any Potter fanatic’s home. The Harry Potter figure stands at nearly 4” and costs $12 with the option for a $4 gift box, or a protective clear plastic case for your figure to stand in for $8

The Mandalorian Funko Pop Review

The Mandalorian Funko Pop collection includes most of the characters from this TV and once again we could only pick one to review.

While still in the Star Wars universe, the Mandalorian was a smash hit on Disney+. This series brought us a small cast of quirky characters but one stands above the rest and is simply unforgettable. We have included one of the best-selling items from the company’s The Mandalorian catalog in our Funko Pop review.

Funko Pop Grogu With Cookies The Mandalorian Review

Perhaps the cutest creature to ever come out of the Star Wars universe was none other than baby Yoda! Of course, we would only learn his actual name later on in the Mandalorian seasons. The Funko Pop Grogu With Cookies The Mandalorian figure has become a rising star and now has legendary status among many Star Wars fans.

The Funko Pop Grogu figure is made of the same durable vinyl all Funko Pop products are made from. The tiny charming yoda-like creature comes with a brown robe and a tin of blue space cookies.

This figure of Gorgu is a reference to a scene from season 2 of the Mandalorian when the cute figure visits a school and gets his hands on another kid’s lunch. This incredibly cute figure is to die for and sits on a black Star Wars base, perfect for a desk, shelf, or even your kitchen table — he is eating after all!

Grogu is the child the Mandalorian bounty hunter must protect in the Disney+ series, so why not get your very own to protect too. Get it for the low price of $12 with the option for a $4 gift box or a protective clear plastic case for your figure to stand in for $8

DC Funko Pop Review

It’s only fair we take a look at DC after giving the spotlight to a Marvel character. Both fandoms have so many great characters, and that’s why we have selected one of the most iconic superheroes of all time. Let’s take a look at the best-selling DC Funko Pop figure on the company’s site.

Funko Pop Batman Arkham Knight Review

The Funko Pop Batman Arkham Knight figure is actually not from any movie but from a series of incredibly well-made video games over the past decade. But, if we didn’t reveal this, you would probably think this is still a badass Batman!

With this Funko Pop toy, you are getting a caped Batman with a gold utility belt and body armor you’d expect from any version of Batman. He stands nearly 5” tall and we really enjoy the contrast between his white eyes and black pointy-eared mask.

This Batman is a part of the Arkham Knights series which contains many other cool figures from the world of DC comics. This Batman costs $12 with the option for a $4 gift box, or a protective clear plastic case for your figure to stand in for $8
